If what I played is any indication of how the game may function on a console then Diablo III is a perfect fit for console owners. To each their own but I would say at least try it before making any judgments on a certain play style. Most PC gamers I know would be puzzled as of why one would choose to play with controller, as a matter of fact most of my friends and staff were baffled when they saw me playing with controller and told me that they would take keyboard/mouse any day over controller to play Diablo III. Both my hands were being put to good use and to me it really felt like I was playing a game. But most importantly I was having more fun playing the game with a controller. At first it was a bit hard to get used to the controller, but practice makes perfect and I soon found myself dominating just as hard as if I was using a mouse. As a matter of fact I didn’t even need the keyboard I was easily playing the game with one hand on the mouse and the other hand holding a drink.įor me that was unacceptable, I wanted my left hand to be just as active as my right one (this sentence can be taken out of context) so I started thinking, what if I was playing with a controller? Well as of now Diablo III does not support controller (although Blizzard is working on that) so I downloaded Xpadder, a software that allows you remap buttons on your controller to emulate keyboard strokes and mouse movements.Īfter setting it up I booted up the game and started playing with the controller. Recently I was fortunate enough to get into the Diablo III beta, and after fiddling with game for an hour or so I realized the game wasn’t that much fun playing with keyboard/mouse. This trend of mine started last year with the Witcher 2, where I could not wrap my head around playing with the keyboard and mouse and quickly plugged in my Xbox 360 controller for a better experience. Five years ago the thought of playing a PC game with a controller would’ve seemed like a ridiculous idea. Lately a recent trend of mine has been trading my keyboard/mouse for a controller.
